A controversial parable whose irony and saatiric thrust (so very Twain) make it a minor classic of anti-war literature. It is as true today as it was then (Civil War era). It wasn't published until 1923 as Twain assumed a backlash for his views on the stupidity of war. Nothing changes, unfortunately.
