A complete instruction manual in the art of Savate, with background material, training methods, rules, and self-defense Savate for women. Savate, a form of martial arts, takes its name from the French for "old shoe" (heavy footwear, especially the boots used by French military and sailors). It is mainly an amalgam of French street fighting techniques from the beginning of the 19th century when it was mainly a type of street fighting common in Paris and northern France. Noted on the title page: "This book is not savate-based on Savate de Cavate or Savate de Chausson. This book describes Le Boxe Francaise and Savate de Paris...their roots in India." etc.
