Cochise (1824-1874) was the hereditary and war chief of the Apache Indians of Arizona. Book contains great photos of Mangas Coloradas, Victorio, George Crook and Cochise's sons, Taza and Naiche -- and many of the elements of the Chiricahua Apache wars, but is missing photos of Cochise. The photos shown here are from another source and may be Cochise, but may not. He was known as the Apache Napoleon and was one of the most skilled and elusive opponents of the whites' who were trying to take over of the Apache lands. This is an excellent history, but leans on the Army side of the war. No surprise there.
